Early Newcastle in the Newcastle Region Art Gallery:
A Selection of Digitised Artworks

Click image to visit the Newcastle Region Art Gallery website

We are very pleased to be able to present these beautiful works of early Newcastle and the local region. Thankyou to Donna Robson who kindly located the artworks, Bruce Turnbull who digitally photographed them, and the Gallery for allowing them to be reproduced for the Virtual Coquun-Hunter River Website. This has been a collaborative venture between the Newcastle Region Art Gallery and the University of Newcastle's Archives Rare Books & Special Collections (now Cultural Collections Unit). Many of the following descriptive entries were prepared by Alison Chapman in the Gallery's Catalogue "Australian Prints in the Newcastle Region Art Gallery 1812 - 1945."
