N.S.W. Records Legislation now applies to all records of N.S.W. Universities. In accordance with the State Records Act 1998, University records must be properly managed and disposed of in accordance with the provisions of Record Disposal Authorities approved by the State Records Authority.

Approximately five percent of all University records are required to be targeted and transferred to the University Archives in the Auchmuty Library building as (permanent) State Archives. University records that are required to be targeted and preserved as State Archives are identified in the Record Disposal Authorities, together with other records (about ninety five percent) that may be destroyed after a specified time.
As resources allow, and when the Disposal Authorities have been finalised and clarified, we plan to publish a SUMMARY of those University records that must be targeted and preserved as State Archives.
