Room Information

International House can accommodate up to 226 male and female residents mixed together in five, six and ten bedroom units. Each resident is accommodated in a private bedroom and shares the kitchen, dining/lounge area and bathroom facilities with other residents of the unit.

Bedrooms

The bedrooms are comfortably furnished with a single bed, wardrobe, study desk, shelves, chair, mirror, notice board, desk lamp and heater. It also contains a telephone with a voicemail system and free access to the Internet.  Residents may wish to bring their own personal items such as stereo, clock, photos, towels, and hangers.

Common Dining and Lounge Area

The dining and lounge area is a popular area for residents of the unit to socialize, relax, have their meals and watch television programs. This area is furnished with dining tables, chairs, lounge chairs, coffee tables and a television.

Kitchen

The kitchens in all units are fully equipped with cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery. It also contains appliances such as a kettle, toaster, electric fry pan, microwave oven, electric stove, and refrigerator/freezer. Each resident is also provided with a locker to store his or her non-perishable food items.

Bathrooms

Each ten share unit has two communal bathrooms each containing one shower and toilet.  Each five and six share unit has one communal bathroom containing one shower and toilet.  Students are required to supply their own bathroom towels and toiletry items. Toilet paper is provided.

Cleaning

While professional cleaners are employed to ensure that standards are maintained within each unit, residents are responsible for the cleaning of their own bedrooms and share responsibility for cleaning the common areas of their respective units. A vacuum cleaner, iron and ironing board are also provided in each unit.

Self-Contained Flats

International House also contains 3 self-contained flats.  The flats contain a double bed, own bathroom and kitchen and are available to individuals or couples.  These flats are generally filled by current residents who have priority.
