Searching the Off-Campus Accommodation Database

We maintain an extensive online database of various types of accommodation located near the University's campuses or within easy access via public transport. Students and staff are able to access the database online via the University website or can visit the Off-Campus Accommodation office for assistance.

Types of Available Accommodation

The database lists:

• Share accommodation
• Full board
• Rental property
• Accommodation in exchange for work
• Share accommodation on a temporary basis

How to Get to the Accommodation Database

Alternatively, you can navigate to the Accommodation database using the following pathway:

• From the University homepage (http://www.newcastle.edu.au), select the "Current Students" menu link
• Under the link box titled "Services for Students", select "Accommodation"
• Select "Off-Campus Accommodation" from the left-hand menu
• Select "Accommodation Database" from the menu

How to Search

• Using the drop-down menu, select the suburb or suburbs you wish to look at (eg Cooks Hill, Birmingham Gardens etc)
• Using the next drop-down menu, select the "lease type" required (eg Share, Lease, Full Board etc.)
• You can also see all the listings on the database by selecting "Sort by Date" or "Sort by Price"

Finding a Property

If you find a property advertised on the database that you are interested in, contact the advertiser offering the accommodation by telephone and ask as many questions as you can about the property. This will save you visiting properties that may not meet your needs. Refer to the checklist of Questions to Ask for details of suggested questions.
