Information for Landlords and Advertisers

Thank you for offering accommodation to students and/or staff of the University of Newcastle. This listing service is a free service designed to assist students and staff to secure suitable accommodation convenient to campus in a timely and effective manner. Before proceeding to advertise your property on the University's Accommodation Database, we encourage you to read the following information.

Demand for Accommodation

Housing listings are accepted throughout the year, with peak demand for student accommodation at the beginning of each semester. Semesters generally commence in Fenruary and July of each year. You can find full details of semester dates on the University Dates page.

Location

Where possible, students prefer to be within easy walking or cycling distance of the Callaghan, City and Ourimbah campuses, or close to public transport routes to the University. Details of bus and train routes that service the University are available on the online Transport Guide.

Rent

The University's Off-Campus Accommodation staff do not view or inspect any of the properties listed with the Housing Service. Accordingly, as we are unaware of how your property compares to other accommodation offered, we cannot provide any comment regarding the price for which you should list your property.

Advice for Advertisers

We strongly recommend that anyone seeking to offer accommodation obtain a copy of the NSW Department of Fair Trading's publication the Renting Guide. Additional information regarding renting your property can be obtained from the Department of Fair Trading.

You must also familiarise yourself with the Terms and Conditions for Advertisers prior to submitting your property to be listed on the Accommodation Database.

How to Submit a Listing

You can submit a listing to advertise your property in one of two ways:

Online: Complete and submit our online listing form;
In Person: Download, print and complete our printable PDF listing form. You will need to bring this form in to the Off-Campus Accommodation Office.

Alert - Email Scams

The University of Newcastle has been made aware of a series of email scams which appear to be directed to landlord's properties on the University's Accommodation Database. You are advised to be extremely cautious about any such emails, and particularly to be aware of accepting money orders from overseas for accommodation paid in advance.
