Five values form the basis of Academic Integrity, namely:
All members of the University community are required to uphold these values. For students focusing on their studies, these values are the bases of all your academic endeavours. Students may be guided by the academic principles of respect for knowledge, and respect for truth, scholarship and scholars and demonstrate these through their practice in partnership and with the support of University staff.
The University community values the quality of learning, both for the individual and for others enrolled in the course, program or University as a whole. The Code of Ethical Academic Conduct outlines the University responsibilities and the student responsibilities with teaching and learning and the academic behaviour of its staff and students.
These pages will assist you in applying the academic principles to your studies at the University and direct you to people and resources which can give you help when you need it. You are responsible for reading, understanding and respecting the University's policies; and familiarising yourself with the conventions of written communication in the disciplines you are studying so as to avoid plagiarism and any form of academic misconduct. You will be given all the support you may require as you progress along your journey of learning.
