Indigenous Cultural Studies

Indigenous Cultural Studies is designed to develop in Indigenous and non-Indigenous students a detailed awareness of Indigenous history, identity and culture as well as developing skills in undergraduate studies.

It aims to develop with students a well-informed understanding of and about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Students will gain a balanced knowledge and understanding of Indigenous culture, history and society, together with enhanced and highly-developed skills in oral, written and interpersonal communication.

It provides a program which is specifically Aboriginal in orientation. Delivered with an Indigenous perspective, which takes account of Aboriginal circumstances, and which prepares students for roles such as service provision in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations. We deliver in our courses knowledge and skills to gain employment in the public and private sectors. While and the opportunity to further their studies in the area of Aboriginal postgraduate research.
