Psychology Volunteer Register

Overview

The School of Pscyhology operates a Participant Volunteer Register. This enables individuals from the general public and the broad university student and staff population to participate in research projects carried out by staff and research students in the school.

Research projects offer a range of participation incentives including cash as travel reimbursements, store gift vouchers, entry to prize draws, or access to educational services.

Participation through SONA

Research studies for the Psychology Participant Volunteer Register are advertised in an online system called the SONA Experiment Management System (or Sona System).

SONA is a web-based system that facilitates the scheduling and management of University-based research studies. SONA is used to book laboratory sessions, administer on-line surveys, and check participant eligibility to participate in studies. SONA saves time for participants by allowing them to check their eligibility to participate in a variety of studies and book available time slots that suit them without having to wait for researchers to confirm eligibility and research sessions. SONA protects every participant's confidentiality by ensuring that participants are not identifiable to researchers, that is, researchers are not in a position to link the information participants decide to disclose within SONA to your identity.
