Dr Chalmers is a senior lecturer in the School of Psychology. Her research interests include: the development of memory and cognition, the effect of iron deficiency on cognition, the role of familiarity in memory for faces and pictures, context effects in memory, and the link between memory and spelling. Her recent publications include studies on the development of episodic memory during early childhood (Chalmers & Grogan, 2006), memory for spelling (Chalmers & Burt, 2008), memory for faces (Chalmers, 2005), memory for familiar and unfamiliar words (Chalmers & Humphreys, 2003; Bohlscheid, Heathcote, Chalmers & Hockley, 2010), and children's use of strategies in problem solving (Chalmers & Halford, 2003).

Heidi Turon is a full-time PhD student, conducting research on the development of source memory. Heidi has presented her research at conferences in Switzerland, Germany and Australia.

Jennifer Hickey is a full-time RHD student conducting research on the relationship between working memory, processing speed, and intelligence in primary school children. Jennifer has presented her findings at local and national conferences.

Phylippa McKay is a full time PhD student, supervised by Dr. Kerry Chalmers. She is conducting research on the development of executive function processes during childhood and adolescence. Phylippa recently won the best poster award at the Australasian Society for Psychiatric Research Annual Conference (2009).

Emily Bohlscheid was awarded her doctorate in 2009. Her thesis was on the effects of encoding and retrieval manipulations on recognition memory for words and nonwords. Emily was supervised by Dr Kerry Chalmers and Professor Andrew Heathcote.
