CLINIC RESOURCES

The Psychology Clinic is located in the Behavioural Sciences building, Callaghan Campus of the University of Newcastle. Entry to the Clinic is directly from the outside of the building thus providing easy access for disabled clients. The Clinic is located away from the main teaching areas, therefore providing privacy for clients away from student and staff access. A large waiting room ensures clients and their family a comfortable place to sit.

The Reception Office is attended by the administrator, receptionists or clinical interns on four days per week. At times when the Reception Office is unattended, an answer machine is available. A postgraduate clinical intern room is available for students on placement, with numerous work desks, computers, phone lines, and a printer. This is located at the rear of the Clinic, away from the main reception area.

Post grad room

The Clinic includes four therapy rooms. Each room is furnished with comfortable high back chairs suitable for conducting relaxation exercises, and d袯r that creates a relaxing environment. One room is specifically designed for children. This room is decorated with bright pictures, toys and art supplies that are suitable for conducting therapy with younger clients. In addition, this room is used for psychometric testing. A table with adjustable height is provided for this purpose.

Each room has a whiteboard for client and therapist use. Two of the therapy rooms, Consultation Rooms 2 and 3, have video recording facilities. These are used by clinical/health interns for training and supervision. A two-way mirror exists between Consultation Rooms 1 and 2 and Consultation Rooms 3 and 4. This allows for direct observation of therapy sessions. Consultation Rooms 1 and 4 have television and video facilities for training purposes.
