Aviation related research is conducted as part of the HEAD Research Group in the School of Psychology. The applied focus on human factors in aviation benefits from the range of issues and basic science topic areas adressed within the general study of human behaviour.

Airmanship in Australian Aviation
This research project is concerned with the concepts of airmanship held by pilots and their experience of airmanship during flight training. If you are an Australian aviator you can participate by completing a questionnaire at http://psych.newcastle.edu.au/airmanship/. The research may extend to airmanship elsewhere in the world at a later date!
Safety Management in Australian Small Aircraft
Pilots of small aircraft of all types are invited to participate in a survey of opinions and experiences in relation to current and incoming safety regulations and associated safety training.
