University of Newcastle Evidence Based Health Care, JBI Evidence Synthesis Group

The JBI Evidence Synthesis Group: University of Newcastle Evidence Based Health Care Group is affiliated with the NSW Centre for Evidence Based Health Care, University of Western Sydney and the Joanna Briggs Institute, an International collaboration of nursing and allied health systematic review centres. The University of Newcastle JBI Evidence Synthesis Group has members from the School of Nursing & Midwifery, School of Medicine and Public Health, School of Health Sciences and the Accredited Practising Dieticians from the University of Newcastle, ACEBaND (Australian Centre for Evidence Based Nutrition & Dietetics) group.

These Schools in the Faculty of Health are committed to growth in research outputs and impact. Much of this research is multi-disciplinary and is highly relevant to clinical practice and professional contemporary health service delivery in a range of settings and communities. We have determined that increasing our expertise and capacity to conduct systematic reviews relevant to our disciplines will increase out research outputs and impact, particularly through citations and publication in highly ranked peer reviewed journals. This is also supported by a rapidly growing research higher degree program and a continuing commitment to improving the quality of research outputs in collaboration with our research partners in the Area Health Service and industry.

The group convenor is Associate Professor Ashley Kable and the membership has grown consistently since the group was established late in 2009.

This JBI Evidence Synthesis Group has been quite productive since it was established. Some of the JBI protocols and systematic reviews produced by members of this ESG can be viewed at:
