Namira Williams awarded 2013 NSW Midwife of the Year
The School of Nursing and Midwifery is delighted to advise that one of our PhD candidates, Namira Williams, has won the 2013 NSW Midwife of the Year award.
This prestigious award was conferred, by the Australian College of Midwives and will be formally awarded at the Australian College of Midwives NSW branch conference in August 2013.
Narima has worked in a wide range of midwifery jobs including her role:
- as part of a new community midwifery service in Kempsey in conjunction with the Durri Aboriginal Medical Service
- in Broken Hill as the maternal and child health coordinator of the Far West Area Health Service, and
- working in community clinics in Papua New Guinea
Namira currently works as a clinical midwife specialist at Manning Base Hospital in Taree and is completing her PhD that focuses on antenatal and maternity care for women with learning disabilities.
Our School warmly congratulates Namira on receiving her award and proudly recognises this achievement by one of our emerging leaders in midwifery.
