2012 Hastings Relay for Life

Relay for Life is an event that raises money for cancer research. Teams gather at an oval and walk through the night. In 2011 the School of Nursing and Midwifery (Port Macquarie) raised $3000. Three teams are currently registered for 2012.

Margaret Harris volunteers at Chiang Mai University

Margaret is on a one-year sabbatical from her position as a Lecturer in Nursing within the School of Nursing and Midwifery at the University of Newcastle and is working on a voluntary basis as an Academic Consultant at Chiang Mai University in Thailand.

Michelle Cole shakes and keeps her cool in Christchurch

Michelle arrived in New Zealand in December 2010 having heard a lot about New Zealand earthquakes, but, had only ever experienced a few mild aftershocks. On Tuesday, 22 February 2011 that would change.

Nurses 4 Nurses running in support of autism

On Sunday 17 June 2012, Nurses 4 Nurses Ourimbah and academics from the Central Coast campus entered a team in the the annual Bay to Bay 12km Fun Run with all proceeds going to NSW Disability Services and Autism Spectrum Australia.

Ourimbah Graduation

The Central Coast Campus hosted the graduation of Faculty of Health graduates – including 48 nursing graduates - on the 29th of June 2012. Family and friends gathered to witness this exciting event and to congratulate graduates on their achievement.

Ourimbah Ball

On Saturday 23rd June 2012 the Ourimbah campus held its very first Masquerade Ball. It was a great night that involved all of the student groups from different faculties. There was lots of entertainment including an African fire breather, live DJ, singers and a magician who chose a very special assistant from the crowd, our very own N4N (Ourimbah) president, Emma Maguire!

Graduated Ourimbah Nursing student recognised

One of our former Ourimbah based Nursing students has been featured in the 'Central Coast Express Advocate' newspaper. Shaun Robertson is a RAAF nurse who is currently serving aboard the US Navy hospital ship USNS Mercy.

New Clinical Collaborative Partnership Model

A unique pilot Clinical Collaborative Partnership Model (CCPM) commenced in late September, this year between the School of Nursing and Midwifery (SoNM) and three health care partners; namely Gosford and Wyong hospitals in the Central Coast Local Health District (CCLHD) and Calvary Mater hospital in the Hunter New England Local Health District (HNELHD).

Nurses 4 Nurses Ourimbah complete the 'Relay for Life'

Nurses 4 Nurses Ourimbah entered a team in the 2012 Mingara Relay for Life, which took place on the 13th & 14th October. They had a small team with just 7 members; Laurie Bickhoff, Kahlee Jewell, Melissa Gillon, Amy Bickerton, Samantha Scheffer, Tracey Strong-Wilbe and Emma Maguire. Cancer has touched all of their lives.
