The Royal Newcastle Hospital Graduate Nurses Association Inc Annual Luncheon was held on 27 August 2011 at the Sebel Hotel, King Street, Newcastle. Over 130 people attended including general nursing graduates from the period 1948 to 1980. Many celebrated the anniversary of commencement or completion of their nursing training at the hospital.

The day provided an opportunity to revisit the site where the Royal Newcastle Hospital (RNH) held pride of place for 189 years and to reflect on the history, traditions and values of the hospital that helped to shape the lives of the nurses who worked there. The room in which the luncheon was held has been named in memory of Jane Morrow, the first Nightingale - trained nurse who was appointed Matron of Newcastle Hospital in 1870.

The Royal Newcastle Graduate Nurses Association Inc. (RNHGNAI) was established fifty-nine years ago and currently has over 240 members. The organisation undertakes a range of activities including fund raising to support an undergraduate nursing scholarship at the University of Newcastle and archiving the historical records of the RNH and the RNH Heritage Trust.
