6th Asia Pacific Alliance of Health Leaders (APAHL) conference

The 6th annual forum entitled Health Leadership for a Global Society was hosted by the School of Nursing and Midwifery from the 8-11 October 2010.

The Asia Pacific Alliance members both International Students and Academics provided presentations on the topic Preparing students for leadership in a diverse, global society.

The Alliance comprises of 9 University Schools:

• Chiang Mai University, Faculty of Nursing and Faculty of Medical Services
• Ewha Womans University, College of Nursing Science
• Mahidol University, Faculty of Nursing and Faculty of Medical Technology
• Yamaguchi University, Faculty of Health Science, incorporating the Department of Nursing and the Department of Laboratory Science
• University of Newcastle, School of Nursing and Midwifery, School of Biomedical Science and School of Pharmacy.

Attendees had the opportunity to complete clinical visits of both the Mater Calvery and John Hunter Hospital, tour the extensive clinical and simulation labs of the School of Nursing and Midwifery, take part in the Wollotuka Cultural day, have an Australian Picnic at Blackbutt Nature reserve, a BBQ hosted by our very own Head of School Professor Michael Hazelton, a meeting with the Newcastle Lord Mayor John Tate and many more activities.

The School of Nursing and Midwifery on behalf of the University of Newcastle would like to thank; Chiang Mai University, Ewha Womans University, Mahidol University, Yamaguchi University, John Hunter and Mater Calvery hospitals, the Wollotuka Insitute, Westfield Kotara, Blackbutt Nature reserve, Homestay providers, Newcastle City Council and our very helpful voulenteers.

The next Asia Pacific Alliance of Health Leaders (APAHL) will be hosted by Chiang Mai University, Faculty of Nursing and Faculty of Medical Services.
