Partnerships
The University of Newcastle has five strategic priorities. One of these is to foster partnerships that enrich and develop our communities in mutually beneficial ways.
One of the University's primary objectives is to collaborate with its communities in ways that will make a distinctive difference. This has been a defining feature of the organisation's history and there is a strong desire for these activities to continue to shape the future.
Community engagement and partnerships are fundamental to every aspect of the University's activities, particularly in the areas of teaching and learning and research.
The School of Nursing and Midwifery's track record in developing local partnerships is evidenced by its strong relationship with Hunter New England Area Health, Northern Sydney Central Coast Area Health Service, TAFE and other education providers; professional communities; and Indigenous communities.
The School of Nursing and Midwifery is globally connected, with teaching links to institutions in Singapore, Maldives and Hong Kong. Researchers from our school collaborate with research groups and organisations to improve people's lives. Our School has developed international partnerships with a number of universities, especially in Korea, Japan and Thailand. As a result of these numerous partnerships, both within and beyond Australia the expertise of the permanent academic staff within the School of Nursing and Midwifery is enhanced by the addition of more than 100 highly qualified and experienced conjoint nursing and midwifery conjoint academic staff.
In collaboration with our external partners and stakeholders, we strive to make a difference by creating new knowledge, preparing our students for global citizenship, and contributing to the social, political and economic progress of Australia and the Asia-Pacific region.
