Faculty of Health Staff Awards – 2009

Conjoint Staff Award

Dr John Sage
Dr Sage provided medical students with excellent teaching in Orthopaedics over many years; through the pre-internship Year 5 Orthopaedics term he has ensured that students are well prepared for their first year as doctors.

Excellence in Teaching & Learning Award

Mr Steve Bowe
Mr Bowe showed outstanding achievement in biostatistics teaching, and for his innovative use of technologies to enhance students’ experience and understanding.

General Staff Excellence Award

Ms Sheila Proust
Ms Proust has outstanding commitment and professionalism demonstrated in the ongoing implementation of the Joint Medical Program (JMP)

Indigenous Collaborations Excellence Award

Mr Joel Wenitong
Mr Wenitong has shown outstanding commitment to working in partnership with the School of Nursing and Midwifery and dedication to improving the way nursing students learning about Aboriginal history and culture.

Casual Teaching and Learning Excellence Award

Dr Ann Burstall
Dr Burstall’s consistent willingness to assist extends to the Year Managers and other general and academic staff within the School. Recent involvements included the re-writing of the Year 1 and 2 Working problems.

Conjoint Outstanding Long Service and Excellence Award

Professor Geoff Cutfield
Professor Cutfield is acknowledged and thanked for giving so much to the Newcastle Medical Program and to the Joint Medical Program (JMP) and for promoting and demonstrating the highest standards in medical education.
