HBS has a strong record of PHD completions, with graduates continuing to make significant contributions to the health knowledge across national and global populations. Topics have included psychosocial stresses on mine workers of traumatic workplace events; psychosocial needs assessment for people with cancer and survivors; the efficacy of health promotion pamphlets; impact of exercise programs for people with heart failure; RCTs of community health promotion programs; prevention of diabetes in Indigenous communities.

A PhD scholarship in Professor Jill Cockburn's name will be conferred by the School of Medicine and Public Health on the most deserving candidate in a three-year cycle.
