Research
The School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences is active in many areas of research. Our research groups in Mathematics, Physics and Statistics are very successful in attracting funding from the highly competitive Australian Research Council Grant schemes, from industry and other governmental organisations. Our success rate for ARC Discovery grants for 2002-2004 was well above the national average.
Our research publications have a strong impact, as indicated by high citation rates; in a recent survey we were place in the top 10 nationally. We have internationally recognised expertise in the areas of Functional Analysis, Surface Physics, Plasma Waves and Statistics. We are committed to research training with many postgraduate students from Australia and from overseas undertaking research higher degrees.
