PhD scholarship: Australian Postgraduate Award (Industry) ARC Linkage Grant with Monash University and Constraints Technologies International (CTI Pty Ltd)

The School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences at the University of Newcastle is offering an APA(I) scholarship worth AUD26,140 per annum. The scholarship will be funded under an ARC Linkage Grant, and is collaborative with researchers in Computer Science at Monash University, and with a Melbourne-based software company, Constraints Technologies International (CTI Pty Ltd).
CTI Pty Ltd - the industry partner for this ARC Linkage project - is a company that provides optimization software to the transport, travel and logistics sector. The research for this project is in the area of methods and software for efficiently solving the transportation crewing problem.

PhD top-up scholarship: CSIRO Energy Technology

CSIRO Energy Technology in conjunction with the University of Newcastle is offering a PhD top-up scholarship in the research area of optimizing the design of minigrid electricity networks.
The total value of this top-up scholarship is AUD10,000 per annum, comprising an AUD8,000 per annum stipend, to be used for living expenses, plus AUD2,000 to be used for research expenses, such as conference travel, technical books, and additional computing resources.

PhD top-up scholarship: Hunter New England (HNE) Area Health

Hunter New England (HNE) Area Health in conjunction with the University of Newcastle is offering a PhD top-up scholarship in the research area of using operations research to improve hospital efficacy.
The total value of this top-up scholarship is AUD10,000 per annum, comprising an AUD8,000 per annum stipend, to be used for living expenses, plus AUD2,000 to be used for research expenses, such as conference travel, technical books, and additional computing resources.

The Calvary Mater Hospital in conjunction with the University of Newcastle is offering a PhD top-up scholarship in the research area of optimizing treatment plans for cancer radiation therapy.

Research in Mathematics Summer Vacation Scholarship
(2008/09 applications close 7 November 2008)
This scholarship is available to support a program of supervised research relevant to the student's program of study in the School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences, University of Newcastle, during the period November 2008 to February 2009.
The scholarship holder is required to pursue a program of up to ten (10) weeks of full-time research, starting and ending during the period, in the School under the supervision of a member of the academic staff.
