Statistics
Choosing your Courses
As statistical thinking is considered important to so many professions, the courses STAT1070 Statistics for the Sciences and STAT1060 Business Decision Making are core courses in many undergraduate programs offered by the University of Newcastle. Even if not explicitly required to for a particular program, one of STAT1070 or STAT1060 may usually be chosen as an elective. This would provide an interesting and useful introduction to basic statistical concepts, methods and tools that complements any program.
Some students may be interested in taking further statistics courses as electives even if they are unable to complete a full statistics sequence. Consult the statistics pathways diagrams or the complete list of undergraduate Statistics courses offered by the Discipline of Statistics for possibilities.
Each student is advised to:
- check program rules and/or check with the appropriate Program Convenor to ensure that your choice of courses meets your program rules,
- check the assumed knowledge defined in each course description to ensure that you are properly prepared for the courses you wish to take.
