Mathematics
Honours Year
Students interested in undertaking Honours may contact staff in their area of research interest, the Honours Coordinator or the BMath Program Convenor.
In addition to coursework, students conduct research across a variety of projects, most of which are connected to ongoing funded research projects. Click here to see current topics. The recently completed access grid room allows students to take courses from other institutions.
Undergraduate vacation scholarships are offered each year and offer students an opportunity to experience mathematical research over the summer. A major strength of our mathematics program is the opportunity we give our students to engage in mathematical research early in their degrees. These much sought-after summer scholarships give second- and third-year students a chance to work with world-class research mathematicians on problems at the breaking edge of mathematical research. This leads naturally into a strong and flexible honours program which has led to many students producing original research of their own in their honours year projects.
The University offers a series of Honours Scholarships for which students may apply.
