Industry Background:
Thirty years industrial experience at BHP's Newcastle steelworks. Twenty two years as an analytical chemist primarily engaged in method development work, but also participating in development of Australian and ISO standards, assessment of laboratories as a NATA assessor, implementation of laboratory information systems, calibration control of analytical equipment, the sampling or raw materials and determining the accuracy and precision of both sampling methods and analytical methods.

The following eight years were spent in applying the methods of Total Quality Management and Statistical Process Control in an industrial environment. In addition teaching and consulting in the use of statistical methods for use in the production areas of the Newcastle Steelworks and BHP Steel.
