The Law Library

The Law Library plays a significant role in the teaching and research functions of the School of Law. The law collection is located in the main library, the Auchmuty Library. The Librarian for the Faculty of Business and Law is Ann Stokes. Ruth Talbot-Stokes is the acting Law Librarian. The Law Library is also staffed by a full-time and two part-time Library Technicians.

The collection has developed since the School's inception and currently comprises almost 50,000 volumes. The library subscribes to the major law reports, legislation, looseleaf services and law journals. The library holds a substantial collection of law texts (approximately 10,000 titles) mostly from major common law jurisdictions, and a number of data bases in both bibliographic and full text format. Increasing use is being made of electronically delivered primary material and journals.

The School also maintains a small library at the University of Newcastle Legal Centre which aims to satisfy the information needs of a busy legal practice as well as those of the student population located at University House.
