Film, Media and Cultural Studies

Film, Media and Cultural Studies (FMCS) courses look at the circulation of a wide range of cultural forms that shape our everyday lives, such as youth subcultures and styles, commercial television and film, or the production and consumption of pop songs and ads.

Students are encouraged to discuss their own experiences as both consumers and producers of popular culture. FMCS staff are actively engaged in contemporary research in film and cultural studies, with particular strengths in film theory, television, gender and the media, popular music, the internet and new media technologies.
