About the School
The School of Economics, Politics and Tourism is located in the Faculty of Business and Law and has a key teaching role in various undergraduate degree programs in the University. Each of the areas of study within the School contribute a number of courses to sequences of study known as majors.
The Economics area of study offers a major in Economics that is located in the Bachelor of Commerce (and also in the Bachelor of Social Science in the Faculty of Education & Arts). The area of study is also responsible for the "Trade and Development" sequence in the Master of Social Change & Development program overseen by the School of Humanities & Social Science.
The Tourism area of study offers a major in Tourism that is located in the Bachelor of Business (and also in the Bachelor of Social Science in the Faculty of Education & Arts).
The Politics area of study teaches a core course in the Bachelor of Business and Bachelor of Commerce (POLI3001: Organisation, Politics and Society), and also contributes to two majors, "Politics & Policy" and "International Affairs", offered in degree programs in the Faculty of Education & Arts.
The School also encourages high-achieving students to undertake a fourth year of study to obtain an Honours degree, which involves specialised study in the areas of Economics, Politics, or Tourism. Research higher degrees, including Masters and Doctorates in Philosophy in each of the areas of study are also available.
Research is an important part of the School's activities. It boasts a vibrant research culture with staff engaged in a variety of research projects, publishing in leading international journals in their fields, creating new knowledge and participating in international debates.
