Research Areas:

Ian Goodwin is an Earth Scientist with specialisations in climatology, palaeoclimatology and coastal geoscience. Areas of expertise are:

  • Ice core and coral palaeoclimatology
  • Climate variability in the Australasian, Antarctic and South-West Pacific region
  • Antarctica and global change
  • Antarctic glaciology and Quaternary glacial geology
  • Holocene coastal evolution and sea-level studies
  • Large scale coastal behaviour, longshore sediment transport processes, sea-level rise, wave climate and coastal stability.
  • Impacts of climate change and sea-level change on coastal, estuarine and coral reef systems
