Modelling and Simulation of Information Flow in Performance Enhancement
Research Topics
Currently, there is no theoretical framework to provide support for decisions concerning the flow of information that are made for autonomous systems functioning in environments where information is delayed, incomplete and uncertain. In this research, we try to formulate and test a theory of the value of information in such environments. Results will enable an understanding to be gained of how information should be distributed inside a system and how the value of information flow is affected by this distribution. The understanding gained is expected to contribute substantially to the development of intelligent industrial and management systems of the future. This research is performed in close collaboration with the OR Department at RWTG, Aachen and Computer Science Department at Bremen University (both in Germany). Also, a number of local companies have been involved in this project : BHP, Comsteel, Pacific Power, Wambo Mines.Research Staff
