Research

The School of Engineering is a strong research intensive school with expertise in a wide range of disciplines. Our research focus ensures that students are exposed to cutting edge, world-class thinking and are taught by staff that are at the forefront of developments in their chosen field. Many of our staff are internationally recognised for their contributions to Science and Engineering, and play an active role in the development of their research areas by taking on leadership roles in the promotion of information exchange as editors of some of the most prestigious academic journals, organisers of conferences and membership of international standards organisations.

The School is closely linked with industry through scholarships, collaborative research, professional consulting and involvement with national and international professional bodies. A number of truly pioneering inventions have been developed within the School, which have been patented and commercialised.
