Value: An engraved medallion
Awarded annually to the student enrolled in a program offered by the Faculty of Engineering, who appears on th Dean's Merit List and has achieved the best overall performance/highest weighted average mark of the academic year.
Engineering Fraternity Prize
Value: $150 and an inscribed medallion or scroll (or both)
Awarded annually to the student graduating with a Bachelor degree offered in the Faculty of Engineering whose performance in the subjects comprising the final year of that degree is judged to have shown the most improvement over his or her performance in the courses comprising the remainder of the degree.
Institution of Engineers Australia (Newcastle Division) Prize
Value: $500 and a certificate and a medal
Awarded annually to the student with the highest pass among the Bachelor of Engineering Honours graduands/graduates, provided that the student has been enrolled at the University of Newcastle for not less than two full academic years of the course, one of which shall have been the final year.

Hunter Water Corporation Chemical Engineering Research Project Prize

Awarded annually to the candidate for the degree of Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical) whose report in the Year IV Research Project is judged by the donor or the donor's representative to be the best of those nominated, provided such report is of sufficient merit.

Awarded annually to the student with the best overall performance, if of sufficient merit, in the first year of the Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical).
Newcastle Chemical Engineering Group Prize

Awarded annually to the graduating student who, in taking the course for the first time, achieves the best performance, if of sufficient merit, in the final year design project of the Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical).

Australian Geomechanics Society Prize in Soil Mechanics

Douglas Partners Prize for Applied Geotechnics

The prize will be awarded annually to the student with the best performance, if of sufficient merit in the final year project in the field of Geotechnical Engineering.

Surveying
Association of Public Authority Surveyors (APAS) Prize
Value: $1000
Awarded annually to the student with the best performance, if of sufficient merit in the second year of the Bachelor of Surveying degree or a combined degree which includes the Bachelor of Surveying degree. The student must have studied a full time load and be enrolled in the above programs in the following year and undertaking courses which satisfy the requirements of the Bachelor of Surveying degree. A student can only be considered once for this prize. Any credit granted is considered in defining the eligibility for this prize.
Astley Pulver Prize for Second Year Surveyors
Value: Books to the value of $125
Awarded annually to the student with the best performance, if of sufficient merit, in the courses dealing with surveying topics in the second year of the Bachelor of Surveying degree, or the equivalent stage of a combined degree which includes the Bachelor of Surveying degree.

John Monteath Memorial Prize for First Year Surveying
Value: $365
Awarded annually, so long as the donor makes provision for the purpose, to the student with the best overall performance, if of sufficient merit, in the first year surveying courses SURV1110 - Surveying 1 and SURV1120 Surveying 2, and enrolled in the Bachelor of Surveying or combined degree which includes the Bachelor of Surveying degree.
SSI Prize for Remote Sensing and Photogrammetry
Value: $150
Awarded annually to the student with the best overall performance, if of sufficient merit, in Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing courses, on completing the award of Bachelor of Surveying.
Scholarships
Cessnock City Council/Orica ICI Explosives R M Sheahan Memorial Undergraduate Scholarship
This scholarship was established by Cessnock City Council and ICI Explosives with the aim of encouraging and assisting undergraduate students from the Cessnock Local Government area to pursue academic excellence in the fields of science and engineering. The scholarship is dedicated to the memory of Dr Robert M Sheahan, a Research Associate with ICI Explosives, who made many key scientific contributions to the explosives business worldwide. Robert Sheahan was a friend and mentor to a generation of research scientists and engineers working in the field of explosives.
One scholarship will be offered valued at $1,000 per year for the minimum duration of the program.

Chemical Engineering Research 2nd Year Scholarship
This scholarship was established by the Discipline of Chemical Engineering to provide opportunities for students studying the second year of their undergraduate program in Chemical Engineering to obtain experience in research. The student will be expected to join a research group within two of the University’s priority research centres, the Centre for Advanced Particle Processing and the Centre for Energy. The student will research within the Centre for an average of 1 day per week over the course of the year.
The scholarships provide a total of $10,000 each to be paid in four (4) instalments as follows: $2500 payable after the Semester 1 census date, $2500 payable by June 1st, $2500 after 1 November and $2500 payable after 1 February the following year.

Coal and Allied Community Trust Scholarships
These scholarships were established by the Coal and Allied Community Trust in 2006 to provide twelve (12) $5000 scholarships to be offered for first-year students from the areas of Cessnock, Maitland, Singleton, Muswellbrook and the Upper Hunter. Students must be enrolled in one the Engineering disciplines including civil engineering, chemical engineering, electrical engineering, environmental engineering, mechanical engineering, mechatronics, mining and surveying.
Five scholarships will be offered valued at $5000 payable in a lump sum payment.

Hunter Environmental Institute Undergraduate Scholarship
This scholarship was established by the Hunter Environmental Institute to encourage and support students in the final year of an undergraduate degree related to environmental studies. The Institute seeks to reward students who demonstrate excellence in achievement and committment in their environmental programs at the University of Newcastle. Two (2) scholarships are offered each year.

This scholarship was established by the Institution of Surveyors in 1990 to encourage and support students enrolling in a Bachelor of Surveying undergraduate degree.

Professor Graeme Jameson Commercialisation Scholarship
This scholarship was established to recognise the contribution of Professor Graeme Jameson in the area of industry engagement, contract research and intellectual property commercialisation. Professor Jameson has been a director of TUNRA Ltd for over 20 years and his recent retirement from the Board will be recognised with this scholarship to encourage third year engineering students involved in potentially commercialising research within industry.
One Benefit of $5000 will be offered under the Scholarship annually, and paid as a lump sum to the Scholar by the University after the semester one census date.

This scholarship was established for continuing chemical engineering students on a one off basis to undertake research in the area of smart particles.
