2013 Teachers' Visit Day

The University of Newcastle's Teachers' Visit Day will be held on Friday 19 July 2013 at the Callaghan Campus, Newcastle.

WHAT IS IT?

Academic staff of the University have volunteered to lead sessions that provide teachers in Hunter and Central Coast schools with:

  • Cutting edge information likely to be of interest to teachers
  • Information relating to the subject disciplines of teachers
  • Fresh approaches to teaching and learning, including advances in technology.

WHO IS IT FOR?

  • Early childhood teachers
  • Primary teachers
  • Secondary teachers
  • New scheme teachers
  • School executive staff
  • Specialist staff (eg. school counsellors, teacher librarians, careers advisers, school welfare team members)

WHAT WILL IT COST?

Teachers' Visit Day is FREE with morning tea and lunch provided. The only cost to schools will be organising teacher relief.

PARKING on campus costs $4.20 per vehicle.

OTHER BENEFITS:

The event is also endorsed by the NSW Institute of Teachers as Institute Registered professional development for the maintenance of accreditation at Professional Competence.

In 2011, more than 260 primary and secondary teachers attended from Public, Catholic and Independent Schools. 99% of the teachers who completed the evaluation indicated that they would attend the event again, and also advised that they would recommend the day to colleagues.
