Creative Arts Study (Central Coast)
The University of Newcastle's Central Coast campus offers a range of opportunities for students wishing to engage in contemporary approaches to the Creative Arts. Creative Arts study at the Central Coast embraces current trends towards innovation, interdisciplinary praxis and practical outcomes informed by theoretical concepts. With an emphasis on student centred learning, our courses provide students with the practical and research skills with which to produce individual artworks and performances. There are also many opportunities for students, graduates and professional artists/performers to develop and present collaborative works for a public audience.
The courses on offer include Fine Art, Drama/Performance and Music in conjunction with an exciting range of cutting edge interdisciplinary courses. In close proximity to Sydney, students are encouraged to engage with the arts and cultural scene in the state's capital as part of their course work and/or postgraduate studies. Professional artists/academics from Sydney also contribute as lecturers and role models throughout the various course offerings.
The flexibility of the courses within the Bachelor of Arts program allows for a diverse range of career pathways, from community arts and cultural positions, to teaching in specific Creative Arts disciplines (such as Fine Art or Drama), to forming professional art/performance companies, to becoming practicing artistsâ¦to name just a few! Twenty-first century graduates are increasingly required to be both multi-skilled and capable of articulating their creative work. Creative Arts study at the Central Coast is designed to deliver both the practical and theoretical skills needed for this.
