Postgraduate Coursework
The coursework programs of specific interest to Communication graduates are in the areas of Digital Media and Multimedia. These include Graduate Certificate versions that stand alone or can be articulated to the Masters level, plus options for studying on campus or online.
Digital Media
The Master of Digital Media (80 units) and Graduate Certificate in Digital Media (40 units) are part of an integrated program comprising the Graduate Certificate and the Masters program.
There is a rapidly growing worldwide investment in digital content for an expanding variety of delivery platforms, ranging from interaction and high definition TV to personal mobile devices including phones and game consoles. Consequently there is a growing need for staff with the knowledge and skills to create this content.
Multimedia
The Master of Multimedia program focuses on the fundamental aspects of digital multimedia design, organisation and production, and project management. The program is aimed at individuals from a variety of backgrounds and experience who wish to further their understanding and proficiency in relation to digital multimedia, screen based design and production. The core courses examine the intrinsic aspects of digital multimedia, including fundamental concepts, technologies and project management strategies.
The Graduate Certificate in Multimedia program provides a thorough basis to the study of digital multimedia. After successful completion of the Graduate Certificate, students may progress to the Master of Multimedia award. The masters program allows for a deeper examination of the field of digital multimedia, with opportunities to focus on some of the more specific, technical areas of multimedia via the elective options. This degree provides students with specialist knowledge, production and management skills related to digital multimedia, underpinned by a thorough grounding in screen based design principles. Graduates may typically find employment in web and multimedia design and development, digital media industries, consultancy and education.
