The Conservatorium Choir

This Conservatorium Choir consists of undergraduate students (plus some interested community members) and is one of the large ensembles to which students belong as part of their ensemble studies studies withing the Bachelor of Music  program.

The Choir performs music of many styles and, in the last few years, has performed music as diverse as the Gloria by Francis Poulenc (with The University of Newcastle Symphony Orchestra), sections of the Mozart Requiem, gospel music and arrangements of popular tunes with student instrumental ensembles, Benjamin Britten's Rejoice in the Lamb and Sarah Hopkins' atmospheric work Past Life Melodies.

One of the aims of the Choir is to give those studying an instrument as a major a chance to learn the rudiments of vocal production and to express themselves vocally, and for voice majors to further their exploration of large and small scale vocal music.

Rehearsals are held each Wednesday afternoon during semester time in the Conservatorium Concert Hall from 2.30 - 4.30pm.
