Occupational Health and Safety
The School of Biomedical Sciences and Pharmacy has a strong commitment to the ongoing Health and Safety of its staff and students. This commitment is symbolised by the School's decision in 2005 to appoint a Safety Officer to provide guidance and assistance in applying safe practices throughout the School's research community.
Safety Application forms for Research (R2) or Teaching (E2) must be submitted to the SBS&P Safety Officer (Deborah Edmunds) and the University's Health and Safety Unit for all proposed projects involving the use of school laboratories.
These forms can be accessed here.
Animal ethics and human ethics applications must also be submitted for any work which involves the use of animals or humans, their tissue, fluids or other material.
For more information including access to the appropriate forms choose one of the following links.
All research personnel (including RhD and Honours Students) are required to undertake all three (3) ELMO Safety Inductions prior to commencement with the School. A printable certificate is available on successful completion of the online induction module in ELMO. Contact Deborah Edmunds and their laboratory supervisor to arrange specific laboratory inductions.
