Research Areas:

Control of sucrose transport in sink regions of plants: the cellular pathway, the role of transfer cells, tissue localization of solute porters.

Current projects include:

  • Control of transfer cell development in cotyledons of Vicia faba
  • Identification of proteins regulating transfer cell development in wheat
  • Molecular and cellular biology of sucrose and amino acid porters in developing legume seed (with Assoc. Prof. J.W. Patrick)
  • Tissue specific localization of gene expression in grape berry (with Drs S Robinson, I Dry & M. Thomas)
