Overarching Interest is in the application of organic chemistry strategies in the development of new therapeutic agents (Organic and Medicinal Chemistry). Additionally, given environmental and public concerns relating to Chemistry we are driven by a desire to develop Green Chemistry approaches in our organic and medicinal chemistry targets. Emphasis is placed on solvent free reactions, atom efficiency, replacement of volatile organic solvents with environmentally friendly equivalents (ionic liquids), and evaluation of the most efficient synthetic routes to the desired end-points. My group's primary interests are in developing novel compounds with the ability to inhibit a number of signal transduction pathways. The potential outcomes of our research include (but are not limited to) the development of new synthetic methodologies; the development of new drugs & the development of new tools for dissecting signal transduction pathways. |
