Eden Gardens' reason for being is to enrich people's lives with plants.

Eden Gardens' directors have set up the Eden Foundation as they have a genuine commitment to both social and environmental causes with a community mission to improve the quality of life in the wider community through horticulture and education. The Eden Foundation has provided support to Fr Chris Riley's Youth off the Streets, Cancer Council NSW, and Community Greening and Youth Community Greening through Botanic Gardens Trust. In 2011 they supported the publishing of a graphic novel created by University of Newcastle students.
