EstablishmentThis scholarship was established in memory of Meegan Jones, a graduate of the Bachelor of Biomedical Science, and a PASS leader and tutor within the School of Biomedical Science and Pharmacy. Meegan died tragically at the age of 31 in February 2012.

Meegan entered tertiary education as a mature-aged student, and was not only an excellent student and graduate, but an excellent citizen who contributed enthusiastically and generously to the operation of the school and the wider community of the University of Newcastle.

This scholarship aims to support and encourage other young people like Meegan to excellence in their Biomedical Science studies.

Applicable to: Biomedical Science, mature age student, second year, 2nd year, third year, 3rd year, High Achievers.

Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for this scholarship you must meet the following criteria:

  • Be enrolled in the School of Biomedical Sciences & Pharmacy, Faculty of Health and Medicine at the University of Newcastle
  • Be enrolled in the second or third year of the Bachelor of Biomedical Science
  • Not hold another scholarship
  • Be a mature age student

  • A statement outlining academic merit in the Bachelor of Biomedical Science and contribution to the School of Biomedical Science and Pharmacy community.
Benefit

One (1) scholarship is available, valued at $2000 per annum for the remaining duration of the scholar's Bachelor of Biomedical Science program.

Selection

Selection of the scholar will be on the basis of:

  • Assessment of the required written statement
  • Academic merit
  • Contribution to the School of Biomedical Science & Pharmacy community; or
  • Potential to be a community-minded member of the School of Biomedical Science & Pharmacy
