The Coal & Allied Community Development Fund has funded scholarships for students of the University of Newcastle since 2006 as part of its commitment to supporting education pathways and access to tertiary education for commencing students from communities in Maitland, Cessnock, Singleton, Muswellbrook and the Upper Hunter Local Government Areas.
In 2013, Coal & Allied extended its program to provide scholarships to continuing students. This scholarship for second-year students aims to support and recognise the community participation and leadership capacity of ongoing Coal & Allied Scholars and acknowledge the role that students can play in promoting education and mentoring fellow students.
Applicable to: Hunter Valley residents, second year, 2nd year, Engineering, Nursing, Medicine, Education, Social Work, Science, high achievers.
To be eligible to apply for this scholarship you must meet the following criteria:

Seven (7) scholarships will be available annually. Each scholarship provides a benefit of $2500, payable as a lump sum after the semester 1 census date.

Please note: Should there be insufficient applications from students who have held a Coal & Allied Community Development Fund Scholarship in the previous year, applications may be sought from students who have met all other eligibility requirements
