Yancoal Australia wishes to establish a scholarship for 2nd or 3rd year students studying Geology or materials handling at the University of Newcastle. Yancoal Australia have mines across regional NSW including in the Central West, Hunter Valley, and Gloucester region which are committed to supporting a local student.

Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for this scholarship you must meet the following criteria:

  • Be enrolled in the second or third year of study with the Faculty of Engineering, School of Mechanical Engineering or Faculty of Science & IT, School of Earth Sciences
  • Not hold another scholarship
  • Be enrolled full-time.
  • Be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or the holder of a Permanent Humanitarian Visa

Required Documentation

If this documentation is not provided your application will not be processed.

After you have submitted your application, please print off the cover sheet provided and attach a copy of each piece of required documentation to it before sending in.

  • Provide a written statement outlining your career aspirations and interests.
  • Two (2) referee reports

Benefit

One (1) scholarship will be offered annually. The scholarship provides a benefit of $8000 payable in a lump sum payment. It is intended that $6000 of these funds are to cover HECS and the balance of $2000 be used to support purchase of textbooks.

Selection

Selection of the scholar will be on the basis of academic merit and the supporting documentation requested.
