Edith and Joseph McBride Scholarship in Nursing
Establishment
The donor wishes to honour his parents with this scholarship in Nursing scholarship for students studying full-time at the University of Newcastle Ourimbah Campus. Joseph (Snr) was deputy science master at Gosford High School. Edith was the mother of 15 children. It was the late Pat McBride's idea to establish this scholarship. It is through the combined effort of both Pat and Joe, that Joe is in the financial position to be able to establish this scholarship in memory of his parents.
Eligibility
To be eligible to apply for this scholarship you must meet the following criteria:
- Be enrolling in the first year of the Bachelor of Nursing program at the Central Coast Campus
- Be enrolled full-time.
- Be a resident of Gosford City Local Government Area (LGA)
- Not hold another scholarship
- Not have previously completed a degree
- Be an Australian Citizen or Be a Permanent Resident

If this documentation is not provided your application will not be processed.
After you have submitted your application, please print off the cover sheet provided and attach a copy of each piece of required documentation to it before sending in.
- A written statement demonstrating your need for financial assistance and career aspirations
Benefit
One (1) scholarship will be offered annually, valued at $1000 per annum for the three year duration of the program, payable in lump sum payments.
Selection
The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of :
- Academic merit
- Performance at interview
- Consideration given to those in financial difficulty
