EstablishmentThis scholarship was established by friends and colleagues, and supported by the family of the late Dr Pat Stevens. Dr Stevens was a long serving local GP, who grew up in the local area, and was involved in a wide range of sporting, cultural and medical activities. He was much loved and admired by his many friends and family, colleagues and patients and is greatly missed. The scholarship is to support the studies in the Bachelor of Medicine of a financially or socially disadvantaged local student of the Great Lakes, Gloucester and Greater Taree Council areas. Applicable to: Taree, Great Lakes, Gloucester, Medicine, Rural, Regional, Remote, Health, high achievers.
Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for this scholarship you must meet the following criteria:

  • Be enrolling in the first year of the Bachelor of Medicine program
  • Be enrolled full-time
  • Be a resident from the geographical area covered by the Great Lakes Council, Gloucester Council and Greater Taree City council

Benefit

At least one scholarship of $2500 in year 1 and $2000 year 2 onwards will be offered under the Scholarship annually, and paid as a lump sum to the Scholar by the University after the census date.

Selection

Selection of the Scholar will be on the basis of academic merit along with a written statement demonstrating the applicant's financial and/or social disadvantages as well as their reasons for choosing to undertake studies in their chosen field. Written statement should be supported by relevant documentation if applicable. Preference will be given to students who seeking to return to their local area upon completion of studies.
