EstablishmentThis scholarship was established in 2007 to support students entering the final year of the Bachelor of Surveying program or a combined degree program incorporating the Bachelor of Surveying at the University of Newcastle.

The Biennial Scholarship will consist of financial support during the final year of the Bachelor of Surveying or a combined degree incorporating the Bachelor of Surveying and is encouraged to take up temporary employment (minimum one year) with the Department of Lands in Survey Infrastructure and Geodesy, Bathurst after graduation.

Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for this scholarship you must meet the following criteria:

  • Be enrolled to enter the final year of the Bachelor of Surveying program or a combined degree program incorporating the Bachelor of Surveying
  • Be enrolled full-time
  • Be an Australian Citizen or Be a Permanent Resident
  • Not hold another scholarship

  • A written statement detailing your educational history, personal achievements and accomplishments, motivation, communication skills, extracurricular activities and career aspirations on graduation and in the longer term
Benefit

The scholarship provides a total of $14000, payable fortnightly over the academic year.

Recipients of the scholarship will be invited to undertake industrial training with the Department of Lands over the summer vacation period prior to their fourth year of study. Temporary employment (minimum one year) will be offered with the Department of Lands in Bathurst after graduation. Payment for the industrial experience and temporary employment will be provided by the Department of Lands and will be at the appropriate market rate, determined from year to year by the Department of Lands.

Selection

Selection of the scholar will be on the basis of academic merit, aptitude and commitment to surveying and personal qualities as demonstrated at interview.
