This scholarship was established in honour of Philip Emlyn Thomas, a science graduate of the University of Newcastle, whose love of music equalled his interest in science. It is intended to recognise and enhance outstanding keyboard performance ability in students from the region.
Eligibility
To be eligible to apply for this scholarship you must meet the following criteria:
- Be enrolled in any year of any program at the University of Newcastle undertaking studies in Keyboard
- Be enrolled full-time.
- Be an Australian Citizen or Be a Permanent Resident
Required Documentation
If this documentation is not provided your application will not be processed.
After you have submitted your application, please print off the cover sheet provided and attach a copy of each piece of required documentation to it before sending in.
Provide a one (1) A4 page submission outlining your goals as a musician and an outline showing your understanding of the music you propose to play at the performance

Selection
Selection of the scholar will be on the basis of:
* A performance including at least one piece from the classical repertoire.
* One (1) A4 page submission outlining the applicant's goals as a musician and an outline showing their understanding of the music they propose to play at the performance.
