The University of Newcastle is a diverse and comprehensive institution, with a spread of geographical locations. It has five Faculties, with a range of offerings comparable to those of major metropolitan universities.
There are two main campuses, the largest at Callaghan in Newcastle and a second at Ourimbah on the Central Coast. The University also has a prominent presence in the heart of the City of Newcastle, where the Faculty and Conservatorium of Music and an arm of the Faculty of Law are located. The University also offers programs at the Port Macquarie Campus of TAFE NSW - The North Coast Institute.
The Hunter and Central Coast regions have a considerable spread of commercial, industrial, mining and agricultural interests. Economically and geographically, the area is arguably one of the most diverse in the nation.
This University has a very strong research culture and is continuing to strengthen its research profile. Annual indicators of research performance demonstrate that the University has excellent research credentials.
