R&D Tax Incentive

The University of Newcastle is a registered Research Service Provider (RSP) and partner organisations may be eligible for the R&D Tax Incentive available through the Australian Taxation Office and AusIndustry.

As an RSP we are recognised as holding the appropriate scientific or technical expertise and resources to perform research and development on behalf of other companies.

The benefits of collaborating with an RSP include the R&D tax offset for eligible expenditure on registered R&D activities, even where the company’s total claim is less than the usual threshold of $20,000 in an income year.

Confirmation of eligibility for the R&D tax concession should be sought from the company taxation advisers. This advice cannot be given by the University.
