External Consulting

The unit provides a consulting service to external clients requiring EM/X-ray services. Sample preparation facilities for a wide range of specimens and specialist knowledge is available in the unit or various university departments. Consultancies have been undertaken from a range of fields including the materials sciences, geology, medicine,  pharmaceuticals, chemistry and engineering.

 

Charges for various techniques are shown below and apply from 3/4/06 (GST is not included).  

• SEM & TEM $200 per hour
• Cryo SEM $200 per hour plus cost of liquid nitrogen
• XRD pattern only $50 per sample
• XRD pattern & search/match  $80 per sample
• XRD Rietveld Analysis - price on application
• XRF Geological samples major oxides $80 per sample
• XRF Geological samples trace elements $80 per sample
• XRF Geological samples major oxides + all trace elements $110 per sample
• XRF Coal ash samples $80 per sample

 

NB. All XRF work includes controls and duplicates carried out for quality control at no extra cost ie. one control sample per batch and one duplicate per batch or per 10 samples, whichever is greater. If insufficient sample is provided for duplicate analyses, only control samples will be run.
