Biomolecular Research Facility
Newcastle Protein

Newcastle Protein was established in 1997 with the acquisition of an Applied Biosystems Procise HT Protein Sequencer. Further purchases, including a Pharmacia SMART system in 1998, and an Amersham Ettan MALDI-ToF Mass Spectrometer in 2003, have meant that we can offer a wide variety of protein services, including one and two dimensional electrophoresis, N-terminal protein sequencing and MALDI-ToF Analysis. These services are charged on a cost recovery basis.
We have also recently purchased a Biacore 3000 that allows real-time biomolecular interactions to be studied and is available for use by researchers after undergoing training by BRF staff.
Our aim is to provide our customers with results of the highest quality and we pride ourselves in providing personalised service. Coming from a research background we understand the need for quick results, and therefore undertake to deliver sequencing/MALDI information within 1 week of receiving the sample and electrophoresis gels within 10 days of receiving the sample.
Guidelines for sample preparation are outlined on the following pages. However please call us if you have any enquiries or require more detailed information.
